Rahul Gandhi inaugurates stamping unit of BHEL in Amethi

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi inaugurated the stamping unit of BHEL at Jagdishpur in his constituency Amethi today. He began by thanking BHEL for setting up its unit there. Rahul Gandhi said that many factories, schools and institutions like IIIT have been set up in Amethi in the last five years. He added that products made by this stamping unit of BHEL will be supplied to power plants all across India.
Highlighting the shortage of electricity in India, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, he said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has signed the Nuclear Deal to tackle this particular problem. He said that electricity is a must for the poor people of this country in order to get rid of poverty. He emphasized that employment generation is directly linked to electricity. He said that when he mentioned Kalawati in one of his speeches, an opposition MP told him that employment, rather than electricity was essential for the poor. “ I said him that poverty can only be eliminated with the help of electricity,” he said.
Congress General Secretary also assured the people that Hindustan Paper, a project worth Rs 3000 crores will be started in Amethi. Rahul Gandhi said that 25,000 people will find employment once this project in completed. “Deshmukhji has said that all necessities have been fulfilled for Hindustan Paper, but UP government is creating hurdles in this project. They say that land is not available for this project,” he said. He reposed his faith in the people of Amethi saying that they will happily provide land for this project. He further said that the government of India would provide adequate compensation and jobs for each family.
Concluding his speech Congress General Secretary said that Amethi and Uttar Pradesh face acute problems of electricity and employment and that “we all have to work for that and develop Amethi and Uttar Pradesh”.
Besides, Congress General Secretary also attended a closed door meeting of Self Help Group of women in Gauriganj and visited Dairy Development Centre in Fursatganj.
Congress General Secretary also interacted with Self Help Group Women at Gauriganj. This is an initiative undertaken by Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and is named Rajiv Gandhi MahilaVikas Pariyojana .
Rahul Gandhi visited one evening school being run by Ujala Mahila Gram Sangathan at Khalispur village. There he spent time interacting village women and kids.
