Funds and programmes do not cross the power corridors of Lucknow: Rahul Gandhi

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi appealed people to vote for Congress for the overall development of Utter Pradesh. Addressing a public rally in Chandauli in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Mr.Gandhi said that the development of Uttar Pardesh is being hampered by the state government despite the claim of Chief Minister championing the cause of poor’. He said there has been no dearth of fund and programmes from the Central government level but it is unfortunate to see that it does not cross the power corridors of Lucknow. State government does not have any intention to work for poor people, rather it is indulged in distributing contracts.  It does not perform it’s primary duties.

Congress General Secretary further said opposition has ruled UP for twenty years but the state has not seen any major development. Now it is the turn of Congress to be given a chance.

Mentioning the developmental work being done in Amethi and Raebareli , which is solely due to the initiative taken by central government, he sought support for the party.

Congress General Secretary said his party has “fulfilled all the promises made to people five years ago . We had told you that if our government comes to power, it will be the government of poor people, Dalits and Backwards”.  Soniaji and Manmohan Singhji has fulfilled those promises”. Manmohan Singh government did not forget the poor people, it’s biggest programme was NREGS through which 100 days employment was provided. Mid-day meal in schools and waiving of Rs. 60,000 crores loan of farmers were other achievements of UPA government. UPA ensured the ownership rights of tribal people on forestland .
Congress General Secretary appealed people to vote for congress if they want to see development for all. He said rich people do not need the help of government, it is the poor people who need the government help and the government of the state has failed to do so.
